I did it! finally! I have to say I'm happy, but tired, it has been a long journey.
I have played FML now for 17 months and I have had numerous chances to reach that, but either I haven't been interested or I have just switched GW. This time I knew, what I had to do! It took me exactly 5 seasons, few hours give or take. Even though I wont take the honour of becoming first 5 star team in FML, I know I did it fastest ;). So Houghton rules!

I think for now, I have achieved everything there is for me in FML. Whats next, don't know, first idea is to create a team out of Argentinian players. Not sure if that suits to me though.
But what I do know is that "Piraaja" has broken few records and won few titles during last 5 seasons in Houghton.

Box office filler 460 - The one and only!

Uh! time to reveal the 460! The one that is the best :).

Story behind box office filler 460: Apart from formation almost nothing between 451/460/370/361 changes. This proves my story, who blame lineup, dont know shite.
When I started experimenting with 451 in october 2008, I discovered that for me best setup is direct/quick. Not sure exactly why, but for me seems that it is the setup, the key. Atleast for these tactics. Other key is probably 0 crossing for attacking players.

Reason why I ditched 451 is, cause its boring. In january 2009 I created this 460, what much more exciting flamboyant tactic. It may not be total football or whatever they call that loads of passing tactic, but it sure is fun. Mainly cause you win ;). If to use 460 with my previous post, what involved filters, you should do good.

I have improved it during last 7 months, so I will reveal latest version of it.

370/361 is latest idea, Stu asked whats a good tactic for 2 DMs. So I thought a little bit and came up with those 2. 361 is more attcking and less tested.

(for 451, move AMCC to FCC position(same with AMCC in 361) and AMRLCs to MRLC pos and add forward runs often to MCC)
(for 370 move MCC to DM position and one DC to DM pos and use MCC settings and again forward runs often)

3 seasons and 4 off seasons later I decided, my small blog needs another post.
Houghton is a great GW and I enjoy it, though small bunch of users wanted to get rid of me :).
That didn't work, I'm still there and still No1 for nearly 2 months in a row now, what includes 8 Team of the weeks in a row also :). Things I have achieved are 175 games unbeaten, ranking points 2003 etc.

What to do to get near these stats will be explained in this post.

I still recon that tactics to start are either 451, 460, 433 or 4321. I myself use attacking 460 whats based on 451 attacking. It might work for you it might not. But before you join GW, you should know what tactic you will use. Why is that? That's cause you wouldn't spend your small money on players you wont use.

What attributes I use to search out my players:
GK - In Houghton I did it this way, GK was my first big signing. Its a good idea to do sign keeper whom you can use for next 10 seasons, so you want him to be real class and quite young. I went after Rene Alder. GK filter: Handling, Reflex - those 2 should be definitely 15+ // Aerial Ability, Commanding Area, Communication, Positioning, Anticipation, Decisions, Agility, Jumping, One on Ones - these should be also preferably 15+, but it doesn't kill if some of them are slightly lower.

FB - Some ppl say FBs doesn't have to be good, I disagree, they might be very vital against some teams with pacey and skillful wingers. FB filter: Pace, Acceleration, Positioning, Tackling - should be 15+, Agility, stamina, strength 12+.

CB - As I use zonal defending I want my DCs to be fast and good tacklers who can jump, don't care much about their marking or heading. DC filter: Jumping 17+, Tackling, Positioning 15+, Acceleration, Pace 13+, preferably 15+. There are also other attributes that are vital, but these determine my shortlist.

CM/DM - perfect here would have someone like Essien or De Rossi :P. And this position, determines quite much how team is doing, as he is the key part in any 3 center midfielder tactic.
CM/DM filter: Tackling, Passing, Creativity, First touch 15+, this will generate big amount of players, so you wanna add more attributes like suitable pace/acc, long shots, jumping, strength, positioning etc. Might help to narrow it down, usually i prefer that my DM has high long shots, and he likes to power them in also I love if they dictate tempo.

(A)MR/LC - Daniel Montenegro, Hleb etc lookalikes. Filter: Dribbling, First Touch, Passing, Technique, Creativity, Pace, Acceleration, Agility should be 15+ Things to also want from them Off the ball Flair, Anticipation, Long shots.

Wingers/FC(L/R) - Someone who shouldn't lack pace and dribbling, great if they could finish and cut inside. Wing Filter: Pace, Acceleration 17+ // Off the ball, Agility, Dribbling, First Touch, Technique, Flair 14+ // Passing, Creativity, Finishing are something that can also determine their value.

AMCC - Someone who allways has to deal with DCs, cant be weak player. So Kaka, Ben Arfa, CR, Pato, Diego etc will do great here :). Filter: Dribbling, First touch, Passing, Technique, Flair, Off the ball, Pace, Agility, Acceleration 15+ // Composure, Anticipation, Jumping, Strength, Finishing, Stamina 12+
When playing with FCC, you want higher finishing and jumping I guess than for AMC :)

Now, most important is making profit from sales and building stadium when you can. lots of teams who spent 1-2 seasons it top of Houghton ranks have dropped now, due to early swaps and lack of stadium. In whatsoever point you don't want to get taxed when swapping players, it cuts your profit. You have only 5 senior locks so your team should have 4-5 players whom you don't wanna sell, but rest are all about buying low or from wage auctions and selling for profit when tax is gone. I have 4 of those players now, Adler, Richards, Ben Arfa, Essien.

It is always easier to sell during season, cause then you have money to get bargains during off season. Also, it is hard to sell players whom avg ratings suck. So you wanna play attacking football and have good results, cause good ratings are easy to sell for decent profit. That's the main reason I play überattacking 460(btw this doesn't mean attacking mentality, normal is enough for most, wingers and AMCC should be with attacking mentality).
To get good rating, every player needs to have a purpose, so its good to involve your defensive players into attack for set pieces. Like FB to give corners or to attack near post(he should have good jumping for that) during corners. DC usually challenges GK, due to his high jumping during corners.

Now I introduce you easy profit formula without JP. During first season and start of 2nd its cleaver to have a youth team, cause you can sign good regens for low wages. usually regens are created during midnight and ,key point, is good potential youth are quite often with wage demand 300-400. Bid on them for max bid, let say 3k, and you should get them. Involve them int as many youth games and senior games as possible, so that their AQ fee will kick up.
I did so, sold them before 3rd season off season and I had loads to spend on my team which created me a monster 2003 rank points and 175 games unbeaten run.

Behind all this buying and selling you are making profit and there isn't a point to spend it all on new players, some of it should be invested into stadium, start building III-tier stand what has place for corp box. As corp box is something that will bring in most. Its expensive, but well worth it and needed to maintain your level.

So:
1. Filter out your players
2. Buy youth with 300-400 wage demand
3. Sell with profit, buy from wage auctions or transfer auctions during season(younger players are easier to sell).
4. Build stadium
5. Don't get taxed
6. Have patience, be determined
7. I'm still official No1

Hi ppl :).

Been a while since I wrote here last time. I guess I have been busy playing and enjoying game.

During that period FML has developed a lot. We have stadiums, we have fans, we have season awards, etc. Due to this lot has changed and all points from my last post might not be so effective now.
This time I haven't planned to write about how to become the best in FML, rather will concentrate on my plans for future. Of course i will point out few things that might be clever :).

Lets start with stadiums. Great add fro the game. First of all it stopped inflation which is great. Making money in FML in the start is quite difficult if you want to build your stadium. If you don't, your team financially will peak sooner. So I'm definitely planning to build a big first class stadium as my point in FML isn't just to play some games. I want to dominate my GW, often I succeed also. Cocky ain't I :). What I'm thinking that 3-tier stands are minimum target. Haven't done the math on it but I have a strong feeling that it is the way to go. 75k-90k stadium should be the target for every team that wants to play the top game I believe.

Due to building stadium and learning infrastructure skills, learning some other skills have to suffer of course. But you do have to learn them as building stadiums is expensive and raising money is tough as your income depends on size of your stadium. Yeh, you need fans to fill stadiums, but that is the other story. Haven't quite figured out yet, how I will compose in the start, but I defo want talented youths in my team also. As I really enjoy how these guys develop. But wanting also seniors means that I really have to be careful with my wages. Wages are key point in current FML, they were important before and I always managed to handle them well(keep 'em low).
Ideally I think no more than 50k per whole team, this will be a really hard task. But I think its really vital. We will see.

Now, from somewhere October I think Double Your Money comps took over GWs, Its hard to find comps where winner gets reasonable amount more than others. In start it was weird for me, but I got used to them. If I joined them I tend to get my share of money and I was happy. But usually when I enter money comps my team is good and I'm confident. What means I'm usually in top10. So from December I started seeing DYM comps where no top10 or top100 etc were allowed. OK, I get the point, but it annoys me that some dudes just out of top10 create those comps. I have one thing to say to you - you have no balls and you suck! Same goes to topteams who create comps what are described or named as comps for lower teams and then last team to join is that topteam. If you provide those comps and say to others that its my product I can do what I want, well that's just lame. Feel free to provide them, but don't join them. Have some decency.

Now on bit lighter note. Like some know or doesn't FML has a so called corner exploit. We wont get rid of it till FM09 engine isn't installed into FML. So I will explain some basics about it. Best way to score goals from corners goes like this - Best jumper has to challenge GK(jumping 17+), rest you can assign how ever you want, also your corners should be provided to 6 yard box. You should have a corner taker who has corners attribute 17+ also. How to make this thing to work even better goes like this - your best jumper should be one of the shortest player in your team.
As you know or don't yet, currently defending corners is a hard work. You can set your best jumper to mark opponents tall player, but you cant mark best jumper. So this where the exploit lies. Usually you expect that opponents best jumper is a tall player, but what if he isn't what if he is someone like Micah R. Who is short, then your only option is to be online and mark him specifically in game by your best jumper. Bottom line when online, watch out for those guys who challenge your GK during corners.

Ayee, for final part of this post I think I will talk a bit about my tactical choices. I have to admit that 442 diamond is my favourite but its also a very complicated tac and it needs right players and too many skills to learn in the start, so I'm going for 451 in the start. I feel its the best one to start. 460 is a great tactic also, but I feel it needs bit more tactic skills to learn than 451. Have seen some guys try to create 460 with very avg result. Which is normal, its no miracle tactic. It can be a top tactic, but you need right players for it.
And for all newbies, choose 3 MC tactics in the start, they are the easiest ;).

Anyway, enjoy the game, whine less, be reasonable with mods, they are just doing their best to keep GWs in order from their free time.

How to start in FML and keep yourself in TOP?!?

Hi, all.

As I can't log in to FML currently, I have time to write few words about, how to do it almost right.
I will start from totally beginning.

As you all know or don't, first you have to create an initial squad. You can spend 100k on daily wages and 500k on acquisition fees. Normal would be that 100k limit wont bother you rather it will be 500k. Especially when you follow my recommendations.

Before logging into new GW first time you should do your homework aka scouting. Create a shortlist of players you would want to have. Shortlist should be big as you wont get everyone you want. Use every help you can get to create this shortlist (FM08 database, FM fan sites where people recommend players aka dugout etc.).

Week1

Creating initial squad: Do not use 'autoselect squad' if possible. 1st try to sign as much talented youngsters as possible. Add 3-5 seniors also. Seniors can easily be over 30 years as their acq fees are smaller, aka Barros Schelotto, Zamapgna. You can sell them later for good money as they still are quality. Use your 500k u to max. Wage arround 50-60k is good enough. Confirm squad, done :).

End your setup assistant tasks and start playing(choose FA definetly).
1st put some skills to train, plan your skill training wisely, so that your skill training wont end when you are offline.
2nd figure out what tactics dou you want to start playing. I recommend 451 or 433 as my experience shows that my favourite 442 diamond wont be good enough if you dont have world-class midfield.

Tactics1: As said 451/433 should be good tactics to start. Both tactics need use a targetman, so be sure you have one or go to market and sign one on trial. I prefer those 2 tactics cause they give me chance to dominate midfield, but also abilty to be deadly during counter attacks. One vital thing that probably is often missed are set-pieces. Every good team needs good set piece taker. For corners ability 17 atleast and same number goes for free kicks. Would be nice to have a penalty taker 15 and above, penalties are tricky for some players, so watch it, some may have good abilty, but preformance just isnt there. SPs can win you important games and bring in vital cash.

Market1: In start you should be very careful at market. You see people signing big numbers of trials. Dont fall into that trap, sign only few good trialists you need preferably with low wages. Then you make most of the profit during daily updates and will be able to sign good players in future. Basically stay quiet on market during first week and raise your funds.

Matches1: Try to play as much games as possible in the start. Cause you want to get your rank fast and players to 100% fitness as this is the key that they will get max benefit from training and can develop. Until you aint sure about your team strenght try to avoid entering cash comps aslo dont forget that home games are easier to win than away.

Week2

During week2 FA competitions start, dont rush into them before you have improved your squad to full strenght. When 1st season kicks off you will recieve FA comp money.

Market2: Hopefully for that time you have shortlisted most of the players you are interested in game and you aware of them being on trial or if someone has bidded on them. So choose your new siging(s) wisely and dont go crazy on wage auctions, as there are plenty of stars available to sign. Probably you will see some better players available than your current seniors. Try to sell the ones you dont need anymore to sign better ones, probably there is enough money in other ppls pockets and they are willing to spend it on your players. Ask wisely, and dont rush into selling without profit unless needed. Before big signings, you have to learn Transfer Negotion skill let say up to level3. You can save big bucks with it. Contract negotion skill aint nessecary till next offseason, when you start renewing contracts.

Matches2: If you have done your job well you are in Top50 and i would reccommend to start entering cash involved competitions. Again, choose wisely, you wont win them all for sure, so keep and eye that money distribution would be normal, say that in 16 team comp atleast 4 teams get profit in 32 comp 8. Those are for knock-outs, but Leagues should be around same values. Also, comps with long resolving date(over 21 days aint recommended) dont give you fast profit what you are probably seeking.

Tatctics2: You have had time to unlock some tactics skills and now you can improve it further.
Corners: Distribution to 6 yard box is the best and make sure that you have one DC with very good jumping and very good heading, put him to challenge GK. Other good jumper and header can be set to attack near corners. Good finisher to stand or attck far post. Main idea is to spread your players to various positions possible. So that they can go after loose balls. Works a treat.
I possible I would recommend that your corner takers are your DL and DR, not vital, but atleast they have some duties then.

Week 3-4

Probably you have made some signings but kept your wages low for someone big. Now it should be the time. Raise money that you need by selling those whom you dont need or whom he is going to change, again, don't sell low. Of course its not wise to try to sell too high also, as nobody will pay. I would recommend to go for attacking player AMC/MC or FC, if you dont have very good SP players, then you should try to get the Big star who has those abilities like Pirlo, Ronnie or someone else like that.
If you see a bargain and you see he can help your team go for it, just dont keep not needed players in team, sell them.
Keep playing as much games as you can to keep/raise your rank.

2nd offseason(week 5).

Be ready for it. That means you have some spare cash and your wages aint high comparing your profit. There can be real bargains on wage auctions. Check who will be available and make your plans. Dont show other your moves and bid in as late as possible. Why? Less fuss means usually smaller wages. And dont go nuts with wages, as it may ruin all your progress.
Be sure that everyone you want in your team will get new conracts and sell others with profit.

Living and dominating your GW(key points)

If you have done everything properly in the start and played your official games being online you probably ended up in your FA Premiership.
Some key notes from me then how to stay in top.

1. Be active, play games
2. Control your finance
3. Set your tactics properly and if needed change them(Dont forget set pieces)
4. Big shortlist(it means lots of news, but you wont miss out on bargains)
5. Always have a budget for useful bargain
6. Youths + some seniors are for the start, but for domination in future you need 11 classy seniors(but with youth you can make great profit to fund your seniors).
7. Every player in starting 11 must have his purpose.

Holland alistas C gruppi teises mängus Itaalia koguni 3:0, esimene mäng Rumeenia ja Prantsusmaa vahel oli lõppenud 0:0 viigiga.

Rumeenia oma sitke kaitsega suutis ühte turniiri favoriitidest Prantsusmaad hoida nulli peal ja teenida viigipunkti. Kindlasti oli see siiani igavaim mäng turniiril, selle tõestuseks olgu see, et väravapostide vahele suudeti lüüa vaid üks löök. Selle autoriks oli noor konnasööja Karim Benzema.
Kahe meeskonna peale suudeti teenida ka vaid 6 nurga lööki.
Loodetavasti avanevad mõlemad meeskonand edasistes mängudes ja näeme ilusat jalgpalli.

Holland ja Itaalia pakkusid meile aga sootuks teistmoodi mängu!
Esimesel 15 minutil olid mõlemad parajalt aktiivsed ja pall liikus mõnusalt, 12 minutil jättis Luca Toni märkamata Antonio Di Natale ning üritas palli ise peaga tagumisse posti suundata, kuid ebaõnnestunult. Di Natalel jäi vaid peast kinni haarata ja mõelda, et 1-0 oli nii läheda, oleks vaid teda jupatsit märgatud.
5 minutit hiljem suutis Dirk Kuyt Palli raskest positsioonist Nistelrooyle kenasti ette mängida, kuid too kaotas kergest puutest Itaalia väravavhiga tasakaalu ja ei suutnud enam palli tyhja võrku toimetada. Jääb vaid mehele au anda, et ta jalgadele jäi ja ei üritanud lihtsalt pennalt teenida.

Avavärav sündis 26ndal minutil, kui karistuslöögi välja tõrjumise asemel tõrjus Buffon sinna hoopis oma kaitsja ja palli tagasi karistusalasse. Karistusala joonelt sai aga löögile Sneijder ning tema löögi suunas väravasse Ruud van Nistelrooy. Oli ka kerge suluseisuhõng, kuid selle välistas Buffoni poolt nokauteeritud kaitsja, kes polnud löögist veel toibunud ning värava taga lebades kattis ka suluseisu.
5 minutit hiljem oli Itaalial võimalus viigistada, kuid Hollandi kaitsja van Bronkhorst tõrjus Andrea Pirlo nurgalöögi väravajoonelt ning liikus väledalt kontrarünnakule. Hollandi kiirrünnaku tulemuseks oli Sneijderi stiilne ülepuusalöök, mis tegi seisuks 2:0.
Mõlemil meeskonnal olid poolaja lõpus veel head võimalused, kuid väravavahid seekord päästavad meeskonnad halvimast.

Teine poolaeg algas suhteliselt tuimalt, kuigi oleks eeldanud itaalia korralikku pressi. Aga selge on see, et Donadoni on teinud vea alustades ka teist poolaega kolme kaitsva poolkaitsjaga.
Esimesna vahetatakse välja täna aeglaseks jäänud Materazzi ja väljakule tuleb viimase MMi sangar Fabio Grosso. Itaalia muutub aktiivsemaks, kuid vaja on veel vahetusi. Di Natale asemel tuleb platsile paljude ebajumal Del Piero ning Camoranesi asemel Cassano.
Itaalia pressib ja üritab, kuid tulutult. Del Pierol on kohe peale sisse tulekutkaks head võimalust, üks neist on tugev löök kasti joonelt, mis napilt üle värava põiklati vuhiseb. Toni kerge tõste läeb küll üle van der Sari, kui kahjuks ka üle värava.

Veerand tundi enne mängu lõppu murrab teravalt karistusalasse Grosso, kuid van der Sari suurepärane tõrje lähilöögile nurjab itaallaste taaskordse ürituse. Minut hiljem teenib Itaalia kasristuslöögi, mida sooritama läeb muidugi Pirlo. Taaskord peavad itaallased tunnistama, et van der Sar on täna liiga heas hoos, tõrjudes Pirlo suurepärase karistuslöögi veel suurepärasema tõrjega.
Hollandlased suudavad taas kiiresti rünnakule minna ja 3:0 on tõsiasi kui, van Bronkhorsti pealööki itaallased joonelt enam ära lüüa ei suuda. Itaalia kaitse ei suuda taaskord reorganiseerida ennast. Ei piisanud ka sellest, et Buffon Kuyti löögi suutis tõrjuda. Raudkindel itaalia kaitse meenutab täna pigem aukliku juustu.
3:0 pealt loobuvad ka itaallased juba võitlemast.
Hollandlaste vahetusmees Affelay tabab raskelt positsioonilt kergelt latti ja itaallaste poolelt hoolitseb viimase võimaluse eest Ambrosini, kuid tema löögile saadakse jalg vahele ja see läeb nurgalöögiks.

Terav põnev emotsionaalne ehk fantastiline mäng! Kahjuks on tulemus, vaid ühepoolne.
Itaalia on nurkasurutud ja Surmagrupp on saanud väärika alguse. Usun, et üks finalistidest tuleb sellest grupist, kui mitte mõlemad ;).

EM 2008 esimene mäng kahe suure jalgpalliriigi vahel.
Surmagrupi esimene mäng on äsja lõppenud väravateta viigiga. Loodetavasti teine mäng selles grupis ei tule samavõrd igav. Raske oleks seda ka uskuda, mõlemad tahavad kindlasti sellest mängust saada 3 punkti kirja. Kerge soosiku koorem langeb valitsevale maailmameistrile Itaaliale. Holland pole Itaaliat võitnud viimased kolmkümmend aastat, oleks aeg muutusteks?

Itaallasi tabas EMi eel valus tagasilöök, kui nende kapten Fabio Cannavaro end treeningul vigastas ja kogu EMi vahele seetõttu jätab. Paremkaitsja Panucci vigastas küll põlve päev enne EMi, aga tema on nüüdseks juba paranenud.
Vigastused on hollandlasi karmimalt puudutanud. Enne MMi oli selge, et ründaja Ryan Babel peabe EMi vahele jätma ja Clarence Seedorf loobus isiklikel põhjustel. Robin van Persie on üritanud peale reie vigastust tippvormi naasta, kuid täna kindlasti veel ei alusta. Lisaks sellele vigastas ääreründaja Arjen van Robben kubet ja jääb nii esimesest kui ka tõenäoliselt teisest mängust eemale.
Mõlemad alustavad kohtumist yhe tipu ründajaga, Holland eeldatavalt 4231 taktikaga ning Itaalia 433ga.

Prantsusmaa on küll kindlasti nimekam meeskond, kuid iga vutihuviline teab, et Rumeeniat ei saa alahinnata. Staare jagub ka neil igasse liini.
Prantslased peavad selles mängus hakkama saama ilma kapteni Patrick Vieirata, kuid tema tõenäoline asendaja Jeremy Toulalan on pea sama kõva vend. Noor, kuid juba tegija. Kahtlane on ka Henry seis, kuid usun, et tema siiski täna platsile jookseb. Ülejäänud prantsuse staarid, kes vigastuste küüsis viimasel ajal vaevelnud on preaeguste andmete kohaselt paranenud.
